Just got my new HC7. Very solid build indeed. I did try the Canon HV20 but the zoom button turned me off so I go with the Sony. I know that each camera will have pros and cons, so will let you know later.
Is there any way to set the color or white balance so it shows true color on the little screen. I notice that the red on the screen camera is fade out a bit compare with the true RED color from the object I shoot.
Also with WHITE Color, on screen camera it shows kind of yellowish.
At this moment I set the White Balance to AUTO.
Can someone help me out please.

If you are indoors, set the white balance to indoors.

I recommend you jump up the color level to +2 or use x.v.Color.

And the LCD is not always indicative of the recorded video, just FYI.

Anybody..... Please help.
And how do you make the flash turns on.... I set flash to NORMAL and REDEYE REDUCTION.

turn off the auto/ easy option, go into the menu, there you have the option to set white balance

The Sony LCD is "true-er" than many I've dealt with, but you need to bump the brigntness up a bit - I'd suggest you hook the cam up to a big TV/monitor so you can see what the video being recorded looks like, and take a bit of time to adjust the LCD settings, THEN fiddle with the WB - you've got indoor (warm), outdoor (cool), and manual to play with, which is really plenty once you get used to it!

Flash is only for stills, and will not deploy if you have any filter or lens on the cam - there's a switch that disables it so you don't get shots with flash blocked by a big lens... but ANYTHING on the front threads will turn flash off.
