I know it captures at 1920x1080 but does it output to 1920x1080 as well or is it 1440 like MiniDV?

I'm very interested in this camera, but that output rez is very important to me if I'm gonna spend that kinda of cash.

Thanks

Hello, this camera, is a true HD camera "with 1920x1080 Chips/recording and output"

At least when using HD-SDI, I.link (firewire) is 1440x1080i only.

Has anyone tested the possiblility of the recorded footage to the SXS cards
being output from the HD-SDI port being 1920 vs 1440...

we know the live output from HD-SDI port is 1920, but what about HD-SDI
port output from the SXS...

Hmmm, and what exactly does one need to output using HD-SDI?

Is that an output connector on the camera which needs the same sort of reciever on the PC?

Guess I need to buy some sort of HD-SDI adapter?

So much to learn. Please be forgiving. :(

HDSDI is an uncompressed output stream if taken live from the camera head. Data rate is about 1.4 Gbs. In order to capture that, you'll need an expensive capture board and a pc that has drives in a RAID configuration to handle the data throughput. You also need a good HD monitor so tack on a few thousand more.

With all due respect Brad, it is true you have much to learn, given your statement about output resolution for 'that kind of cash'. A video camera with this much imaging capability would have set you back tens of thousands of dollars just a few years ago. The EX-1 represents another price/performance breakthrough in the HD realm.

Well, this camera also records the full 1920x1080 onto the SxS cards in HQ mode.

but getting that data off the cards, How does that work? Can you trangsfer the full 1920 image?

You can use USB to Computer transfer, or a SxS reader USB to Computer, or a express card slot on a new laptop.

And you can play the clips from the SxS card and output through HD-SDI or SDI down converted to SD or via I.link (Firewire)

There is a post somewhere here with the manual to the EX1 in PDF format I would recommend reading it.
