I shot some frames of the XDCam EX versus XL-H1 versus Sony DXC-D50WSL with extreme low light. If anyone's interested, here they are:

The XDCam does pretty darn well. A stop or two better than the Canon, and not far off the studio camera.

I also shot a resolution chart, though I've still got an old fashion SD chart (Hey, I work for a public university ...)

Thanks for the tests! Although I think it's unfair to pit a 2/3" standard definition camera up against a 1/2" chip HD camera. It's nice to see the results and that DXC-D50WSL is a damn fine camera regardless!

A test I'd love to see is the PD-170 vs. the EX1.

I was just curious to know if the blacks in the ex1 are better than hdv. hdv has some square blocks in blacks and due to the variable 35mbps from xdcam I was thinking ex1 would have the same blocking in the blacks. Has someone try this test? thanks

And is the ex1 24p good with the shutter in 100 or 120 or 125? the xdcam 350 does not have good 24p at hihg shutters because the image gets little squares in the same way of the canon xh-a1. has someone try this? thanks.

??? I've never heard of that with the F350... I'm not sure what you're implying.

If you're concerned about the XDCAM EX1 codec. I have not tried the 25mb codec. I'm only using the 35mb codec. There is no blocking. It's excellent.
