Hi folks,

Please can some kind soul point me in the direction of a diagram showing me how to put together an RS-422 to RS-422 cable (9pins at both ends) for controlling a DigiBeta deck from my Decklink HD Extreme card?

I've searched the web for ages but there seems to be a lot of contradicting information out there.

Many thanks,
Jack

Normally the basic pins that are a must are:

Pin 2 TX or RX based on gender of the connector
Pin 3 TX or RX based on gender of the connector
and Pin 5 shield.

Depending on specific equipment there are other pins that might be used, but for the most part these 3 being connected properly will get you basic control.

Why not just spend a couple of bucks and buy an RS-422 cable?

Could this be what you're after?

http://www.interfacebus.com/Design_Connector_EIA449_Bus.html

The "449" is the specification for using 422 differential driver/ receiver pairs with a 9 pin connector.

Hope this helps.
