I am a bit confused of what app do you exactly need to install to work with EX footage and FCP on the Mac. I suppose that the XDCAM Transfer version 2.1 is all thats needed but I am not sure it includes the SxS driver. Do you also need to install the EX Clip Browser and the SxS Driver app on Macs?

Thanks.

Thierry.

Drivers and other software for PC and Mac are on the CD which comes with the camera, Thierry - there may be later versions which can be downloaded.

But so, the SxS driver is a separate install, it is not installed along with XDCAM Transfer 2.1?

Each requires a separate click once the CD is opened.

My question relates to this thread, I have installed Clip Viewer 2.1 for Mac from the website, and the SxS driver from the CD (FAM Driver Tool 1.1.1).

Camera connects to Clip Viewer, but cannot play clips and no thumnails appear. I do see some time code and date stamps.

I have a Mac G5, single processor, 1.8 Ghz,
Mac OS 10.4.10.

Hey chip,

The clip viewer needs the intel chip on the mac end of things to operate.

In regards to the SxS tool, I believe you have to have the codecs that are included with Final Cut 6.0.2 in order to utilize the SxS tool (which will work on the powerpc macs...but you need Final Cut 6.0.2.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Jamie,
I have got it working. I guess this is all written down somewhere, but I just kept upgrading stuff until I ran out of stuff to upgrade.

Clip Browser 2.1 (PDZ-KP1 Version 2.1)
FAM driver 1.5 (PC Utility software Version 1.50)
then ran Software Update for OS, then Pro Application Support, then FCP 6.0.2 (interspersed with required restarts)
Quicktime 7.4
Mac OS 10.4.11
FCP 6.0.2
Everything works on my G5 SP 1.8 no Intel chip needed.
Will run clips extensively later to test for dropped frames, but initial test looks good.

Sony USA finally might the stuff easy to find there.

Here's the Sony USA link

EDIT: I see Chip posted that too but he's got some app confusion.
ClipBrowser is 1.1 (apparently still 1.0. on Mac)
Transfer Tool is 2.1
Driver is 1.0
