Hi,
I want to play back a sequence that I edited in finalcut on the playstation3 from an usb harddrive.
I succeded doing this, but I had to recompress the mov sequence to mp4 using the h.264 codec.
My question is now, if there is a possibility to get this done without recompressing?
In another thread I found a hint that renaming to .ts ending might work, but it didnīt.

(here the workflow I use now: importing via xdcam transfer software from sony - droping the files into finalcut - editing - exporting via the xdcam hd 35mbit vbr profile as a mov - recompressing via compressor to mp4 with h.264 codec using 35000kbit/sec to stay close to the original bitrates)

Any ideas for a way with less quality loss, or with no recompressing would be very welcome.

Thanks
Holger

Just a guess, since I don't have an EX to test it with yet, but try opening the .mov in MPEGStreamclip and exporting it as an MPEG transport stream - this should be a straight file copy, not a recompression. I'd like to hear how this works, just got a PS3 so as soon as I can get an EX I'd planned to try figuring out this workflow.

Hi,
i tried that already, but as it is no mpeg2 file the convert to mpeg transportsteam option is greyed out and unselectable.
