I want to achieve an effect similar to that shown in this video, where the floral patterns are unfolding/blossoming.

You can use masking/keyframing to unwind masks to do write-ins and fly ins on images, but it's a bit of work.

You just make an image that is how you want it to look when it's done and you reveal it with masks over time.
