View Full Version : Modest demo reel.
Hyun De Grande January 15th, 2008, 01:48 PM I just made a compilation of my work as a cameraman & colorist, eventhough I'm not a professional DOP. I just did some camerawork in the past, on a couple of student films.. So this is not professional work.. :) But feel free to comment.

Philippe
Oliver Reik January 15th, 2008, 04:04 PM I liked it very much. Beautiful pictures, truly amazing!
Matthew Craggs January 16th, 2008, 04:57 PM If I had your skill I wouldn't be modest. Very good job.
Noa Put January 16th, 2008, 05:12 PM Hyun, that's pretty impressive for somebody from Belgium. ;) I do mainly weddings for a living but have done (very) short movies myself in the past. If I see your work I see I have a long way to go. You can clearly see you have very good camera and colorist skills. I allready added your website to my favorites.
Jimmy Moss January 17th, 2008, 01:48 AM What Kind of color correction program did you use? I think I should start a poll, I've been getting into color grading and I'm wondering what everybody likes to use.
Hyun De Grande January 17th, 2008, 04:12 AM Thanks! It's nice to hear some input. :)
I do my color correction in final cut pro, using just color corrector 3-way, color balance & proc amp. I'd like to try out Apple's color though!
Djee Smit January 17th, 2008, 06:02 AM Looks great indeed. Love the colors and shots in general. Is it all shot using the stocklens of the 2 camera's you mention, or did you use any 35mm adapters and lenses?
Hyun De Grande January 17th, 2008, 06:25 AM Just stocklens. But with a lot of the interiour shots we were shooting in a big space, so it was easy to film in tele...
Jimmy Moss January 17th, 2008, 07:40 PM Wow! Just in FCP. Are there any books you recommend for learning to color correct?
I have Apple's Color, just been reading the manual trying to learn all the functions. Seems pretty powerful. I'm afriad I don't know where to start with it all. Guess I need some tips.
Michael Pulcinella January 18th, 2008, 08:32 AM You do good work! Great reel! I would hire you.

I still think that the best way to learn all these things is to 'simply' mess around with it. Use some footage that you can mess around with, and go mad, if you know what I mean :) You'll learn more of trying it yourself, then by reading it in books (I think). On the other hand, books can be handy to take your skills to a next level, to refine it, once you know the basics...
You do good work! Great reel! I would hire you.
Thanks! :)
