How would one capture this kind of look on the ex1? If I shoot at 6-8 fps it speeds up automatically to 24fps...

That appears to me to be a slow shutter speed not a slow frame rate.

On the EX1 I am not sure how you would do that maybe a post effect.

Anyone?

Try this

on the LCD select shutter speed and change it to sls then pick a number of about 6.

Done deal.

I think it is a combo of frame rate and shutter speed. I read an interview a long time ago with chris doyle where he talked about the process. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Here's a dumb question I'll just toss in here. I'm assuming there is no numbered focus read out like on an hvx, a z75 mf38 or whatever. We just get the bar...?

Yes, but the bar represents not where the focus ring is positioned but what is in focus.

ie camera is full wide and @ f16 the bar is very long vs. a small bar when zoomed all in with a f stop of 1.9
