I would really like a controller that has zoom, record and focus control. The lanc controller for my v1u has a focus button - like the autofocus button on the side of the cam.

The one I have found is this:
http://www.bebob.de/international/zoe-EX_e.html
It does most of what I would like but no focus control.

Can the EX1 take a controller with focus control? Or is it just zoom & record?

thanks.

Hello Brendan,

Iīm working at bebob Munich, the manufacturer of the Zoe-EX.
Sony has made a new protocol for this camera. This Protocol allows you only to remote the Zoom, the record and the Ret function of the camera. Sony has seen no possibility to remote neither Focus, nore Push-Auto, nore Iris (as you find on the Panasonic HVX200 for instance)

The protocol allows a much better control of the Zoom speed, and especially of the start of the Zoom. In comparison to the LanC protocol (used in the Z1 for instance, or the new Z7 that will be issued in the next week), you loose the possibility to switch on/off the camera, and the remote of the Push-Auto, or wsitching between Auto and Manual Focus.

The Zoe-EX will be exhibited and will be available for delivery next week on the VideoForum show in London. Should you pass by, you will find it on the booth of the company Holdan.

We will show there as well the coco-EX, together wit our LED On-Board Light

thanks Pierre - i currently use a Bebob controller on my V1U and it is excellent - seems to be more robust and weather sealed than my Vari-zoom one.

Ill be in contact with Holdan.

The 8-pin Fujinon protocol isnīt the same as the EX protocol. As well the connector as the signals are different. remote control made for 8-pin Fujinon lenses (as the Varizomm or our Zoe-eng-8 doesnīt plug nore work on the EX1

Hello chris,

If nobody from your team comes to London, let me know so that I can arrange (through 16x9) or direct to let you (or one of your experts) get one unit for test

I'm going to the show on Thursday, I'll definitely look out for one of these as it's very much needed. I'm interested in how easy is it to attach them to various supports as I want to use one with my tripod and DVMultiRig Pro.

I'll happily write a short review if I buy one (assuming they are for sale at the show?).

regards

Paul.

What's equally as interesting to me is to coco-ex. I'm glad to see a way to power accessories since this has always been a problem with cameras this size. I've put wireless transmitters on an HVX, and had to power them with 8 AA's. Now if only someone could make a wired remote that could access the picture profile menus...

What about A-B Shot Transitions? IMHO this on a controller would be incredible.

Sorry for a stupid question: What to you exactly mean by A-B Shot? going from one preselected focal length to an other preselected one?

It's focus and a slew of other options. There's a preview chapter that covers it here:

I have no possibility to remote neither Focus, nore iris, nore the other parameter. Only Zoom.
