Hi Guys,

What would be the best way to output some EX1 footage to show its quality over the web. In essence what would be the export workflow in Final Cut Pro?

Thanks for your help,

Simon

It really depends on the bitrate you're willing to use, which in turn will effect he final output size (Mb) of the file.

The higher the bitrate the larger (pixel size) you can make your videos and retain decent quality.

My recent exports have been done using the following workflow...

1. Export a full res Quicktime file from FCP (not using any conversion)
2. Open the exported .mov file in quicktime and then export it at H.264 quicktime with the following settings...
Bitrate: 5000kbits/sec
Frame reordering: yes
Encoding mode: multi-pass
Dimensions: 1280x720

I've been pleased with the quality this produces, but the bitrate you can get away with depends on the amount of motion and the subject matter in your content.

www.vimeo.com is a good place to share as users can also download the source footage. If you want to host the video yourself then using the 'Export for Web' option in Quicktime produces good quality video results as well as the html code to display it.

Paul.
