I have a Dell Poweredge 2900 Server that was used for a a business that has gone out of business.

Will CS2 and Aspect HD run on this server or should I just unload this server and set up a new editing machine. Or possibly set up XP on this machine.

The server currently has 4GB RAM, 2 Dual Core 2.8 Processors, SAS Hot swap Raid w/ 3 146 GB SAS Drives.

I'll need to install a video card, but have a SB sound card I could pull from my P4 editing machine.

Thanks for advice,

Jay

You will need to install Windows XP.

Premiere CS2 looks for Windows XP before installing. If it doesn't find XP, it won't install. Choosing Windows XP in "compatibility mode" does not fool the installer.

Interesting. I have not tried to load the software yet, but http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926031/en-us lists CS2 as compatible.

Someone must have got it to run for that test.

I stand corrected - it was Premiere Pro 1.5 that refused to install on Windows Server 2003.

CS2 does work on Windows Server.
