with 2 test: one for the audio noise of the camera
one for the image

They say that this camera is better in low light than the Fx1 and that the image quality equals the Red wich cost 30times more.
No its a joke
Seriously
This camera was developped for emerging countries but its finally distributed for the rest of the world. Can Sony win some customers in europe with this bulky camera that seems to come from another age? The answer seems yes because not a single contender is in the horizon, and this since the coming of age of the HDV.The target:wedding cameraman looking for some credibility(Even if big cameras doesn't make automatically a good cameraman)!

strong point:
Shoulder came(rare)
ring with assignable fonctions
DV entrance
slow shutter speed
2 socket,2shutter,2zoom control
recording hdv,dvsd4:3 or 16:9
downconversion Hd or sd
manual recording for sound
Hdmi,component or usb output
ability to watch the viewfinder from all angles
info for seeing the use(hrs) of the camera

weak point
limited wide angle
small viewfinder(compare to the size of the camera)
obligation to go in the menu for changing the ring assignation
no 25p mode
no flash

could debate
very bulky
smooth slow recording
but critics have to keep in mind that this HDV model, cost a little bit more than a high end AVCHD.

This was just my short résumé,(done in 10minutes) depending on the demand I might make it more complete.
Bonne Journée

weak point...
obligation to go in the menu for changing the ring assignation

Nobody seems to understand this.

To toggle back and forth between manual and auto modes, you just touch the MANUAL button right by the lens. If you've got your left hand on the lens, your thumb is probably already touching it.

To change what the ring does, just press and hold the MANUAL button for a couple of seconds. The choices appear and you turn the ring to pick one. No need to go into the touchscreen menus at all.

I know you were just quoting the article, but it's shocking how many writers/reviewers don't bother to read the manual (p. 25 of the US version).

This is not ideal, but maybe helps a bit...
