View Full Version : HV20, battery and tripod

I did search on this and can't believe I didn't find anything. When the HV20 is mounted to a tripod, ya can't get to the battery lever to change it!

Its not a big deal with the tripod--easy enough to remove the tripod plate and change the battery.

But I'm going to be mounting it to a Steadicam JR and that will be a royal PITA to remove the camera each time when changing the battery.

What is anybody else doing about this?

That is one of the two things I don't like about the HV20. I suppose that a workaround involving a spacer or something could be figured out, but that is a major design flaw. My other gripe is the lack of LANC control.

While it is a pain, you can just use a Quarter or a thin screw driver to press the release button - et volià...

HI Andy,

I use the SIMA Quick Release Mount on all my equipment, so no Battery issue for me.

As to lack of Lanc, I just set up my IR Remote with the FiberOptic Mod to use it. Has worked for my last 6 Cams.

Harold,

I'm not clear on how that sima thing works. You have this auxilary quick release mounted on the tripod plate?

Could you post a picture of the camera mounted to the tripod?

But I think this is something I've wanted for some time. If I buy two sets, I can mount one on the camera and the other end on my tripod and steadicam, right? And even put the other part on my still camera.

There's a very small Sima QR that shouldn't get in the way of anything - I believe that's what he's referring to. Small circular base, and a small square plate for the cam.

Hi Andy & Dave,

Correct Dave, I've been using them for years and on every Cam and TriPod, MonoPod, ChestPod, Etc. I've got. Every unit is quickly interchangeable.

Even use them on two of my small LCD Monitors.

Makes life easy.
