What is this rebate about? Anyone got this DVD?

Yes, I just received mine this past week. It's just a DVD showcasing the EX1 and what it can do. It's got some cool footage of some stuff done with airplanes by Jody Eldred along with some other big names blowing some serious pro Sony smoke. I enjoyed it. It's just a standard widescreen SD DVD, not any kind of data DVD with actual HD footage or anything... you can't beat the price though.

I got mine through a Sony ad I saw in a magazine. But that was months ago, before the EX1 was released.

Be warned, there is NO HD footage on the DVD. It is strictly a promo SD DVD for the EX1. Some interesting footage shot with the Sony WA converter though.

Be aware that in addition to filling out the web form, you also have to print the request and send it in via postal mail to actually claim the 'rebate'. NOTE that the promo to request the DVD ends on 3/31/08

It's a very short DVD and as mentioned it's SD only, but it is good to see Jody Edlred's shots in a size larger than Sony has on their web site.

I didn't send anything in via postal mail. I just filled out a form that I had found on the Sony EX1 website about a month and a half ago.

It took a long time to get here. In fact it took considerably longer than my free 8 GB SxS card!

for some reason, they kept sending me emails saying they hadn't received all of the required info for the rebate - maybe this was their error. After I sent in a copy of the rebate submission form, the DVD arrived several weeks later.
