This is the promoreel of the short movie "Bird of Prey" we shot late february near Paris, France.

Everything was shot using a Sony EX1 with few B camera shot made on a Z1 hdv.

Grading is not perfect yet but gives a taste. We had 3 days with lot of sun and 2 days with clouds, rain, fog...
Grading the movie is definetly going to take some time :)

Magic Bullet looks for the moment. This may change to Color for the real movie.
This was a quick grading, but I also like most of it. Maybe I will have to change some blacks which are too blue for the moment.

Yes, I love Magic Bullet...I need to upgrade my copy to looks ASAP.

Just wanted to ask since I don't own this camera, is the vignette on purpose?!

I assumed it was deliberate... at least where it is almost looking down a barrel, However after watching it again I do notice it in all 4 corners in sections where I would think it should not be.

He did that intentionally in post. The EX1 can have a vignetting issue, but NO where near that effect!

Yes, it was done on purpose, with the blur effect on some shot, like the "death proof" road one.
The EX1 (mine) suffer of no vignetting issue, whatever zoom or aperture level.

Most of the vigneting stuff may be removed on the final relase of the movie. This was more a test than the definitve look. Maybe you could share your thoughts on this ?

I just don't understand clearly what you say. My understanding is : remove the vignetting on every shot except on the deathproof shot, which is fine with vignetting + blur.
Am I right ?

by the way, I put a MP4 version on my blog. Same cut as vimeo.

For those who saw it, have you been concerned by the guy driving, and going from the first to the 3rd gear, ommiting the 2nd ? Do you think it's a problem ?

Yes, you got what I was saying....If I remember correcly there was one other deathproof style shot inside the car for a brief frame or two which was cool as well...I would probably leave that as well because of the impact it had between cuts.
