I was wondering when one would use each of the available rendering codecs? Also, is MPEG4 and H264 the same? How would I render these? How would I create Flash media from Vegas?
Thanks
Thanks
View Full Version : Is there a codec tutorial for Vegas? Paul Cascio March 29th, 2008, 01:08 PM I was wondering when one would use each of the available rendering codecs? Also, is MPEG4 and H264 the same? How would I render these? How would I create Flash media from Vegas? Thanks Douglas Spotted Eagle March 29th, 2008, 11:33 PM There is no tutorial, I can't see much of a benefit in having one, to be honest. Doesn't matter whether it's Vegas or any other NLE, most of the standards apply across the board SD DVD-MPEG 2 only. HD on a disc (Blu-ray) AVCHD, MPEG 2, VC1 Broadcast HD delivery-HDCAM, D5HD, HDD For web-WMV, WMVHD, MPEG4/10 (same as H.264) For DV-NTSC or PAL (depending on the origin) DV codec For export to compositing tools-depends on the tool. Might be 4:2:2 YUV, might be sequential PNG or TGA, or uncompressed. For iPod, MPEG4/iPod template For PSP-MPEG4/Sony template These are the biggies. The rest of em' are more esoteric, specific workflow oriented that vary as much as the colors of blue in the sky, and there are few hard, fast rules once you start getting into unique workflows. Robert M Wright March 30th, 2008, 12:58 AM AVC (H.264) is "part" of MPEG4. If video is MPEG4, that does not necessarily mean it is AVC (H.264). Eugenia Loli-Queru March 30th, 2008, 03:29 AM It depends how you want to export. I have here a 720p HD exporting guide for PS3, Xbox, Vimeo etc. http://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/2007/11/09/exporting-with-vegas-for-vimeo-hd/ Paul Cascio March 30th, 2008, 08:08 AM That's exactly the kind of info I'm looking for. I just can't seem to find this stuff anywhere. |
