I am considering buying the HP xw8000 dual Xeon workstation.
Will this give my performance and stability a great boost or will it be hard to even notice the difference ?

I now use a single P4-2.6 hz. 1GB Ram etc etc.
I do use the Canopus Storm which is said to "grow" with the processor speed.

Any comments or other users using this type of equipment ?
Any recommendation on the videocard?

Thanks a lot,
Peter

Personally I don't think more processors will increase your
performance in editing much. It might if you do a lot of long
mpeg (for example) encodes.

I would rather spend the extra money (dual CPU machines
usually are quite expensive) on extra harddisk space or gear.

New video cards are fast enough for editing work. It might
be interesting to get one with a DVI output (digital if you ever
want to hook up an LCD or Apple cine screen) and/or
composite/svhs output to hook up a TV.

Peter,

If you do decide to go with the HP machine make sure it is compatable with your Storm.
