I was reading through some threads today and noticed that you guys might set up a new forum strictly for Mac and FCP.

Is that the majority out there?

I have a custom built PC for my video editing/sound editing pleasure. I use Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop for all my digital video editing/sound editing. I also use Sonic Foundry ACID Pro for all my sound/music creation for video.

I think that will be included in the "Trauma Center" section.

Very good point. I'd bet that at least half of the visitors here, if not more, are using PC-based tools.

I use PC based editing - with premiere and photoshop, and would find it usefull if there was some forum like that - maybe it would answer such questions as:

Why does my PC crash when it likes too, as I export my 5 minute movie?

hehe. Definitely a good idea to have a forum strictly for windows/adobe.

Just for the record, I use Adobe on top of WindowsXP. I've only had 1 problem so far since I've been doing this. And there is a workaround for that. Although it's a strange one to me, and really crashes my system if I don't do the workaround.

But, other then that...everything has been working smooth/great.

We will do the Mac/FCP message board, but I would feel much better about it if we did a PC board as well, for Adobe Premiere, Canopus, Xpress DV etc. The problem is finding somebody to moderate it who really knows their stuff. I edit with a Canopus DVRex RT system on a PC platform, but I only drive it, I don't know how it works. I can't justify setting up a PC editing forum unless there's somebody knowledgeable enough to correctly answer questions who will volunteer to moderate it on a regular basis.

I don't have the time to moderate a PC forum, Chris, but, I sure will be a contributor. I use Adobe sparingly. My knowledge is mostly about PC setup, optimizing, use of 3rd party software such as VirtualDub, Nero, TMPGEnc, etc.

Chris, I've been battling with Premiere and PC editing for a couple of years now. I'll be glad to help. Between myself and by the sounds of it Bill, we could handle it for you

Great idea! I am a PC user myself too. I wouldn't mind moderating
such a forum. Although I cannot say how all the packages work
I at least now exactly how a PC and Windows work. I also have
experience with codecs and so forth. I'm getting into Premiere
and After Effects. I think with all the great people around here,
things will be answered in such a forum Chris! No one knows
it all (ofcourse), but together we are strong (in our knowledge).

I use a Mac myself - chose to because everything i've seen from editors who use PCs say their system crashes a lot. I use FCP and Premiere (started with Avid, moved to Premeire and finally to FCP) along with other Adobe products and a plethora of 3rd party apps for sound, etc)

I see more discussion in groups like these from PC users than Mac users. I'm not sure if its because they have more problems, or because there are more people editing on PCs.

So - the short version - I think PC users could really benifit from a group that address their issues. Many times I start reading a message only to realize that its a problem only associated with editing on PCs. Sometimes it isn't clear which platform is being discussed, and in a number of cases it makes a difference.

This is a great idea, I really hope it gets off the ground.
We orriginaly started editing on Pc with media 100 and it was only after 2 years of constant problems that we decided to go with FCP3 and a G4 and since then have never looked back.
There must be a few of you out there trying to get Media 100 working on a PC which I know we can offer help with as Im sure we encountered every issue and glitch known.
Sorry we can't be much help with FCP on Mac as we have never encountered a single problem, it does everything it should.
