How much time do you get per gb? 1080 vs. 720? Also, I saw your Boston Common video, I'm going to Boston for the first time this summer. Any advice on fun stuff do with the family?

On their site it mentions this:
Both 1440x1080 30p and 1280x720 60p are 15 minutes per gig.

The Common is obviously a place visit and there are usually a lot of people putting on a show like this Father’s day for example. If your kids need cooling off, you can take them to the Frog Pond which will open up on July 1st. On the other side of the street is the Public Garden and that’s where you will find the Swan Boats to go on.

Its only April but on hot days the beach in Revere is already getting crowded. I don’t know this years dates but their is usually a Sand Castle Event every Summer that lasts at least a few to several days and on the last day, they set off fireworks. Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it. I've been looking at the DXG 566 but none of the authorized sellers have it listed on their sites. I saw the Aiptek at Best Buy the other day, and might go that way after seeing your video. So I 'm not sure. Anyway, thanks again.

I strongly suggest getting the Action HD at WalMart over the A-HD+ at Best Buy because the extra $30 that you pay for the auto focusing and especially the 3x optical zoom is well worth it. The band footage would have looked a lot better if I had the Action HD. The A-HD+ has digital zoom but I won’t allow myself to use it.

After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to allow people to download the original native files directly from Vimeo. You just have to be signed up to that site.

I will post at least 1 or more music videos within the next few days.

It took me a few attempts to finally get this big file on Vimeo because my connection kept shutting down after its halfway there. I can finally relax now.

Paulo, I bought the Action HD yesterday based on your recommendation. Got to say I'm pretty impressed. Do you know if can edit the files in Vegas?

I don’t think you should have problems with Vegas although I haven’t used it with Vegas. I can easily edit the files using NERO.

Thanks for the information on these cameras. I went looking through my brother's B&H catalog yesterday when I saw the Aiptek A-HD. Between these videos, and a video in another thread by Evan Donn, I'm actually pretty impressed with what I've seen. By no means does the camera look phenomenal, but it looks pretty good for the price. For someone who doesn't even consider himself worthy of the title "amateur," but would like to learn filmography (from an artistic/directive point of view... referring to learning camera angles, shots, etc.), this looks like it may be a decent camera to pick up (especially since it comes at something near a "toy" price).

A question I have, if any would like to answer, regards the manual focus. I understand that the A-HD doesn't have manual focus, but the A-HD+ does. Assuming this is true, how function is the manual focus of the A-HD+?

I'm a Mac guy, and I'm not seeing any complaints about its Mac connectivity. That's a definite plus. However, another question, if I may, regards downscaling. How well does the video captured with the camera downscale to, say, 480p?

I have both the A-HD and the A-HD+. The manual focusing is the same. The close-up setting is for 12 to 20” inches and the standard setting is for 20” and up.

I made a standard DVD with the included software but I didn’t like the results. I haven’t tried with Nero yet but I think it’ll look much better.

Thanks for the information. I was looking into that camera as well, but I haven't heard much about it (probably because it isn't available yet ;) ). If the video quality is fair enough... and it will work with my Mac... then I'd be interested in it, as well.

How does the 720P30 footage look when compared to the same 720P30 from the original Aiptek Go-HD- any improvement?

Here are samples I did today by holding the A-HD on one hand and the A-HD+ on the other hand.

Looking at the clips I posted, you can see the A-HD producing better looking results and a moderator at the end of this thread has the exact same problem with his A-HD+.

For some people, adjusting the exposure is not a problem but I suspect a lot of people won’t even bother. I’ve said this in my blog and I’ll say it here, I hope Aiptek releases a firmware update to fix this problem.


Anyway, you’re still getting an exceptional value with either the A-HD+ or the Action HD.

I'm having some trouble getting the video files to work correctly on final cut pro and adobe premiere pro. I think that i may be missing the proper codec for it, but i can't find any information on any mac codecs. Could you shed some light?
