Wondering if I can at least dump the 24P (Canon XH-A1's 24F) onto my computer at its original type/ framerate etc. and maybe even edit (but not so important) I will have access to FCP soon, but to get the data is all I'm after right now. Can I get somehow grab the video with my computer for later use w/ FCP? or do I need to plug the camera only into FCP to begin with to keep the 24P ?

maybe I posted too soon. After reading I learned that I must have FCP6, or 5.1.2 in order to capture HDV1080/24F. If there is another way, just to simply capture at full quality, pls correct me.
