Hi. I recently acquired an HD100 from a friend, but encountered an unfortunate accident where the bottom part of the handle became cracked. Seeing as how I don't want to return the camera to my friend damaged, I was just curious about what the best way to go about getting it repaired would be. Should I find and order the part from JVC and take it to a local repair shop, or just take it to a repair shop to begin with?

The crack is probably about a half inch long, and is not on the top part of the handle, but on the bottom section. If you're looking at the caution sticker underneath the handle, it's on the section immediately above that. I found this section on JVC's website, but not sure which part it could be...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Tag

I think you may be best off getting it fixed professionally - the problem is that the heat sink is mounted in the handle, and there's a pipe that carries heat from the camera body to up to the heat sink that is quite hard to work around.

I posted about a DYI repair if its the front of the handle where it joins the body. seems like its now gone :(

if the camera goes in for service, I'll have it replaced, but for now its working fine.
