I don't have the camera yet, but I had a question regarding manual exposure on the A1. Is there some sort of indicator that tells you when the exposure is good, or do you have to rely on just what you are seeing on the cameras monitor?

All video cameras have zebra bars. Most people shoot with zebras set at 75%, which means they show up when you have a good exposure on caucasian skin tones, light blue shirts, graycards, etc. It's simply a method of reading the reflective meter the camera has. So, the answer to your question is yes, but like any light meter, you have to learn how to read it. And since it's a reflective meter, it can lie to you if you're not careful.

There is also a little sliding exposure indicator visible when you are in manual mode that indicates where the camera's "suggested" exposure would be relative to the exposure you are currently using. I don't know if the way I worded that makes sense.

Thanks. That's pretty much what I was wondering. I'm assuming that using the zebra pattern, that you would just adjust exposure for highlights until you just first start to see the pattern, if at 75%. At any rate, I'm pretty familiar around a light meter after 30 years in the still photo biz.
