Ok simple question:
I am editing using Vegas 8 and I want to take the footage to a post facility for an HDCAM upconversion. Should I render it to AVI or Quicktime? (uncompressed or not).
What is the difference?
Thanks

Most likely it'll be QuickTime, but find out what they prefer. They may want a specific codec.
The primary difference is the choice of codecs available.
In-house, QuickTime will be used with Mac systems, AVI with PC systems. But transfering platform-to-platform, QuickTime is usually more convenient.
Some great codecs on AVI cannot be read on a Mac, like Huffyuv (and Lagarith I think). But most QuickTime formats can be read on both: PhotoJPEG, QuickTime-PNG, etc.

Check out Perian (http://perian.org/) if you need to read HuffYUV on a Mac.

It does work with Vegas 8 right? What are the advantages?
