View Full Version : EXI SDI Output Roger Dowling June 20th, 2008, 07:12 AM Can anyone please confirm if this output supplies 4:2:2 colour signal. Also is this an uncompressed signal. Thanks Dan Keaton June 20th, 2008, 07:15 AM Dear Roger, The HD-SDI output of the Sony EX1 is a 4:2:2 10-bit signal. This is what is commonly called an "uncompressed" signal as it has not gone through MPEG2 compression. Roger Dowling June 20th, 2008, 07:29 AM Thanks Dan, Adjusting to the EX1 is taking some time. So using the SDI output for direct recording via a Nano HD unit should provide excellent quality? Roger Dowling South Australia. Dan Keaton June 20th, 2008, 07:33 AM Dear Roger, The HD-SDI output provides the highest quality signal that you can obtain from the Sony EX1. Yours is a very good camera that produces outstanding images. Yes, you can record to Convergent-Design's nanoFlash or Flash XDR in order to achieve the highest quality that your camera can produce. In addition to Convergent-Design's products, there are other ways of recording a HD-SDI signal.
