I was told awhile ago they were the same software...and thought so since Soundbooth came with the premium package...but Audition 3 did come out? Was it recent? Soundbooth sucks and I only have Audition 2.0 at work....why wouldn`t Audition come in the Premium package :( I need it and my budget is too far in the negative to afford it. Stupid adobe and their bad packages.

Soundbooth is just designed to be a quick and dirty audio editor for video post. It's not Adobe's full-fledged sound program. Audition is their full-fledged sound program with multi-tracking capabilities. I agree, soundbooth does suck. I don't even bother using it in conjunction with Premiere. I own ProTools for big stuff, but I really like Audacity for small stuff. I'll export the audio tracks of my video and open them in audacity, run any effects or edits, and then re-import them to my video and re-sync the audio. It's a lot better than Soundbooth and it's free...

part of it had to do with Soundbooth being cross platform, Audition is not.

Truth is guys, that most of the people doing video work don't/can't use a full featured audio program like Audition. It is too complicated and intimidating for those of us who don't know the audio side well. I had a difficult time using audition and I love Sound Booth. So you see where I'm at.

Adobe did a lot of research and found that an easier program was needed for the vast majority of users. So they decided to build Sound Booth for the majority of users like me. You can always use Audition too!

Sorry---that's life.

FYI, the upgrade to Audition 3 from v.2 is $99.
