I should be receiving a Canon HF100 later today and have a question regarding editing.

I have purchased Studio 11 (right before they announced version 12) and saw that there are a lot of different formats that I can save the edited video as. I want to keep the resolution on the video at 1920X1080 and I plan on watching the video on the computer for the forseeable future.

What file format should I use? Is there one format that will not take as long to encode? I have worked with Divx in the past but not in HD resolutions.

I save in 2 file formats. AVCHD and WMV. For the AVCHD I go to the "Make Movie" tab, select Disk and then in the Disk file pulldown in the dialog box I select AVCHD. Then click on the "settings" button to open that dialog and select "Create disk image but don't burn" option. (You can burn a disk on standard media that will play in a BluRay player or PS3)

The AVCHD file on the hard drive can be watched on the Pixela player that comes with the camera.

For the WMV file I select the 1280x760p at 60Fps option. I see very little if any difference between the AVCHD file and the WMV when both are played on my Samsung 21.6 inch monitor.
