Greetings all, I was just wondering if my JVC HD100 was capable of capturing from a tape that has DVX100b 24p advanced footage? Also while I have your ear, I was looking through the menu on my HD100 and could not find a way to turn off the recording signal light on top of the camera. I like recording actors doing practice takes and I don't like for them to know the camera is recording. Is there anyway to do this? Thanks in advance.

Hey Steven,

I can't answer your first question, but I can help you with the second one. In the HD100 menu system go to Others->Front Tally and set it to OFF. The "tallies" (beats my why they're called that) are just the LED notifiers on the camera for when you're recording.

I learned this and a lot more from Tim Dashwood's ProHD DVD. The camera instructions certainly don't explain this stuff.

Cheers,
- Sean

Yes it can. It can also record 24P advanced (2:3:3:2) in DV mode, just like the DVX100.Also while I have your ear, I was looking through the menu on my HD100 and could not find a way to turn off the recording signal light on top of the camera. Yes. The light is called a "tally" and you can set the front tally and/or back tally on or off. I leave my front tally off and back tally on so only the little red LED lights up at the back but the actors can't see it.
