Ok, my next goal in my project is to get a digibeta master, so I did some research and post production facilities charge around $250/hour or like $1600 if I bring in my files in an external hard drive, so I have been thinking...

Is it possible to I rent a digibeta deck (Sony J-30 for $150/day) and transfer it myself?
If possible what would be the workflow for that?

just trying to save some bucks... Thanks

Well, if you have a Black Magic or AJA card with SDI out, of course you can do that. But a DigiBeta shouldn't cost $1600.

We just had our feature, which I delivered in JPEG2000 Quicktime format at 720P, on a hard drive, transferred to tape. We had it printed to D-5, HDCam, DigiBeta (2 copies), and Beta SP (2 copies). The total bill was about $1800. And worth every penny. We used one of the very well known, established post-production houses in Hollywood.

Don't try to do something like this on the cheap; it will come back to haunt you, from our experience.

Thanks, yeah I don't want to do anything stupid.
What are some good post houses in LA?

We used Encore Hollywood and were very happy with them.

I've also been referred to Lightning Media for this kind of job:

Good luck.
