I'm planning to buy the intensity pro and using it for analog capture from VHS videorecorders and older analog videocamera's etc etc.

I know the intensity pro will do a good job.
but I like to know if there are other suggestions to a good analog capture card.
Or will the intensity pro be the thing for me? Quality and a good workflow is the most important. Its for my business and I have to convert a lot of analog material.

I'm also using premiere pro CS3 and cineform aspectHD on the same computer for
HDV edditing. Is it wise to have the HDV edditing workflow and the analog workflow
on the same computer? (btw, its a vista machine)

An alternative may be the Grass Valley ADVC range.

I did some research on the web and it seems that the ADVC55 does
a good job.

Anyone know which card does the conversion better (quality of conversion)?
The internsity pro or the ADVC55?

One more advantace over the ADVC55 is that I dont have to build
it into my computer!

Rob, the Grass Valley box looks like it converts to the digital 'ieee 1394' format exclusively. That's DV standard def video in a fairly compressed format. The intensity pro looks like it converts into uncompressed formats, such as full HD etc. While I don't have the card myself, I'm assuming that you can set various formats to convert via software. You might want to start a thread asking specifically about the Intensity Pro so owners can give you a more detailed heads up.

matrox RTX2 is a great card for analog capture, plus it really boosts Prem Pro's RT abilities. so you may well eliminate a lot of rendering.

I use an old Digi8 camcorder to capture analog video. Works great.
