Has anyone ever tried making a camera mounted light?
I have researched and found on for a still camera but would like to make a bigger LED light to fit in the shoe of my camera.

Here is the link to the still camera light --> http://prodmod.com/2007/12/15/make-your-own-led-camera-light-for-only-2-lasts-longer-than-camerabright/

I have thought of making an eyelight that is powered by the hot shoe in the past but no time to do it.

I kludged together a functional-but-cheap (and cheap-looking) on-camera light using a clamp-on lamp fixture, a daylight balanced compact florescent lamp, a small 100-watt DC-to-AC inverter, and a 12-volt gel cell in a belt pouch. It actually worked quite well, but looked like the product of a dumpster-diving session. Sorry, no pictures exist, and I burned the media card that contained the images to make sure they could never fall into the wrong hands.

I often wonder if somebody makes CF lamps that work directly off 12 volts DC, like for RV use. That would eliminate the inverter, and increase battery life.

Drop the light onto a flash bracket and instant DIY LED light. It comes with a 7.2v NiMH battery pack.
