I purchased a Sennheiser HMD 280 Pro and it came without any connections, just wires. I have already wired the headphone section but the microphone is giving my trouble.

It has 3 wires,

Positive
Negative
Ground

If I am wiring a 1/4 inch male plug, where does the positive, negative and ground wire go?? I have even tried balanced XLR with no luck as well. I would really like to use 1/4 inch male if possible and use an adapter to go to XLR when needed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jon

Balanced 1/4 TRS connections, and the wiring of an adapter as well, are..
Signal Hot (+) -> TRS Tip (XLR Pin 2)
Signal Cold (-) -> TRS Ring (XLR pin 3)
Ground -> TRS Sleeve (XLR pin 1)

Readers note - this is NOT the wiring plan to connect a mono XLR mic to a stereo TRS mini mic input. This is for a cable converting mono, balanced, XLR to or from mono, balanced, TRS.
