View Full Version : VTR Deck to Display Data Code?

I am looking for a VTR Deck which will display the data code when duping down to SVHS decks. I shoot depositions with the XL1, and there is no option to do a "CHAR REC" directly on the tape when recording (this was later added in the XL1S). As such, I need to be able to grab the data code and display HR:MIN when duplicating down to SVHS.

Any ideas here?

Thanks in advance,

Do you just want it to display or do you need it to burn the data into the S-VHS dupe?

I need the Date/Time to be burnt into the VHS dupe. I have since found that I can achieve this when I use my Sony PD-101 camcorder to playback the tape.

I may just buy a lower end Canon camcorder and use that as a playback deck, although I would much prefer to have a true deck to playback with. I currently have a JVC HR-30 (?) miniDV - SVHS deck, but it will not display the DATE/TIME from the Canon-shot tapes.

Many of the introductory prosumer decks from Panasonic and Sony, starting around $1,000, have the ability to burn in the TC.

Any suggestions as to model numbers for those decks or URL? I have looked at both the Panasonic and Sony website and not seen their prosumer offerings

I believe both the Panasonic AG-DV2500 and Sony DSR11 have the TC features you need.
