I shot a wedding yesterday, that was my first paid job after upgrading to new firmware. I have observed the rolling shutter partial flash exposure has vastly reduced during the shoot. After coming home and reviewing all the clips, I can confirmed that the new firmware did improved the handling of partial flash exposure. I am loving this cam even more now. If you have the same observation, please share

Has anyone else been able to verify this?

I thought this was a hardware limitation, CMOS sensor device speed.

It is possible that the new firmware could read out the sensor fast, however I'm not convinced that the sensor hasn't always been read at the fastest possible speed. There is a lot of post processing done by the Exmor processor to reduce noise and artifacts so maybe something has been changed there.

I guess we will have to see if anyone else notices an improvement. I'll talk to the engineers at IBC and see if they have tweaked anything.

Hi Alister,

I also pointed this out to the Sony people here in the states. They are not immediately aware of anything but are trying to find out from Japan if something has been tweaked.

Interesting, to say the least!
