View Full Version : Transfer BPAV folder to HD for logging later?

Am I doing something wrong or is this a problem because I have a (G5 Quad) Power Mac rather than Intel?

When I have a lot of footage to shoot, I want to be able to drag the BPAV from my SxS cards to my external HD and sort out the logging etc later when I have more time.

But if I do this, XDCAM Transfer won't recognise the files and I can't import them into FCP.

Am I making a mistake somewhere, or am I stuck with it?
If I'm stuck with it, I guess I need more SxS cards.

What you need to do is make separate folders each time you are going to transfer a BPAV file off the card. What I do is make one huge folder and then have sub folders card1 card2 card3 etc... And then in the transfer software you open those folders and it will recognize the files.

Ahhh!
Got it now. I was trying to get XDCAM Transfer to recognise the BPAV folder but you have to point it to the parent folder (dohh)!

Thanks Brandon, that's going to boost production immensely!

With clip browser v2 this you don't need to make new folders, every time i copy from card to hard drive (on location using laptop), clip browser 2 makes a new folder with the date/time as the folder name.

Hi Paul,
I thought Clip Browser was for Intel Macs or PCs??

I have an "ancient" G5 Powermac - must be at least 2 years old!

Hi Andy.
Maybe clip browser is just for intel macs and pc's,i'm not really a mac man.
It just sounded like clip browser 1 was being used from the description about having to make a new folder for each card copy.

Sory for any confusion.

Paul.
