hi all,

My system:

iBook G4
FCP 5.1
External DVD burner
Toast 8.01 Titanium

I tried to make DVDs with the QT files I exported using FCP QT compressor.

All I did is drag the files to toast 8 under video and burn the file using blank DVDs. I do not need to make menus, just a DVD that auto plays.

However, I ALWAYS get pixelation somewhere in the DVDs i make, no matter i export how many times under different setting in FCP.

What is the best format to use to burn DVD using toast 8?

Thanks!

Google MPEG2 compression and long GOP compression...

There is no magic setting. In general, the higher the bit-rate the higher the quality and the higher the file size (less content fits on a disc). The lower the bit-rate, the lower the quality and a smaller file size (more fits on a disc). In general, scenes with fast and/or erratic motion (unstable handheld shots, unstable anything really! quick pan & zoom, etc) can break up upon encoding because of how Long GOP compression works.

My workflow is to export a non-self-contained file out of FC. Drag that into Compressor. My usual settings are 6.1 average bit-rate and 7.1 max. bit rate, 2-pass VBR. AAC for the audio. But then again, how long is your sequence?

hi,

My sequence is less than 15 mins.

I skipped compressor because i dun really know how to use it.

Would be grateful if you can advise how I can use compressor to improve my DVD output.

I only opened compressor once....
