Will we be able to get our Firestores serviced now that they're in chapter 11?

For now, according to the press release, they will continue to operate as a "debtor in possession." This isn't good news for HDV users, but the writing is on the wall - cheaper and more open solutions are becoming more and more commonplace on new camera models. Why spend $1400 on a proprietary hard drive solution with weird menus that you have to connect with a cable and power independently when you can just plunk a $60 8 GB compact flash card in your camera's slot?

Recording length is about the only reason to sway me anymore.

Chris and others,

My Firestore FS-C just blew out it's firewire port. Beautiful timing.

I'm waiting for them to reply, but, meanwhie, does anyone know if they are accepting repairs?

Harry
