As topic, what does render mean ?

When you use your editing software to change the native footage, rendering combines the changes back to 1 stream again. For example. If you capture and HDV clip and want to add a filter of some sort to color correct, you need to render the clip to incorporate the changes into the stream. Your computer does this.

It could very well be that my simple explanation isn't the correct scientific answer, but my 'idea' about rendering is that it's simple your computering calculating things, to get a result. This can be many things:

- rendering to show you a preview of effects.
- rendering to change from one format to another format.
- rendering heavy effects or colour correction.
