When I start a new project in PPCS3 should it be in 8 bit or 10bit? What’s the difference. I don’t know much about bits, I would assume that 10 bit is better. Can anyone enlighten me on theses settings.

Also when I go to prerender a section what format is this rendering to and how can I change what format it is rendering to.

I have footage from a Sony Z1, recorded in HDV and this will be down converted to SD MPEG-2 for DVD duplication if I find that PPCS3 is what I use.

For HDV, 8bit is fine. Unless you have Cineform or a third party I/O card, you should use the HDV project preset for best performance, which doesn't have a 8/10bit setting.
