I tried to find this topic before posting, sorry ...

I'm using Vegas Pro 8.0c for the first time since installing last week. I'm in the middle of editing a project that combines clips from 7 reels of HDV footage, but the final program output will be DV 4:3 format. I have one urgent question, and one not-so-urgent question, perhaps you can help?

1. I saved my project to a second hard drive on my computer. But all of my clips are getting written to my primary hard drive in the "Documents" folder. How can I change this?

2. I am combining footage shot in standard DV 4:3 and HDV 16:9. All media has been imported as DV (downconverted from my camera), but I'd like to know how to crop the 16:9 scenes?

Maybe this will help

1. You should make sure all of your clips (uploaded video, photos, music, etc.) are not on your main hard drive (should be on a second hard drive or external hard drive).
You'll need to set this when you capture video or when you import files (make sure they on separate hard drive)

I save my project file on the main drive (c:) and keep a backup on a flash drive or an external hard drive (these files are very small)

2. Set your project up as a 4:3 project, then for each 16:9 clip you can set the size for individual clips using the pan/crop button

I hope this doesn't confuse you worse

#1 Go to File - Properties and change all the file locations on all the tabs away from "Documents and Settings" (make sure and check the "start all new projects" checkbox so they'll be changed on all new projects as well)

Now go to Options - Preferences and do the same thing

Now that I'm already working on this project and the files have been placed on my primary hard drive, can they be moved without losing the links to their location? Should I just wait until I'm done, then try to fix it? (I have a 5pm deadline today).
