Ran across an interesting link today, it's a 4TB to 8TB DIY RAID enclosure (http://www.freshdv.com/2008/10/blazing-fast-4tb-raid-under-2k.html) that offers better than 400 MB/s write and 500MB/s+ read in RAID 0. Assembly looks easy, and total investment is just $1450 with 4TB-worth of drives, including shipping. That's about as indie as they come, when you compare it to solutions like CalDigit's HDPro (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/529136-REG/CalDigit_731215E_4TB_HDPro_External_Hard.html?BI=805&KBID=1062), which is about $5700 and doesn't even beat the DIY option in sheer performance. Something to consider I suppose...

Looks very cool, especially for someone who is cheap and doesn't mind building things. I might look into that for my next RAID (when my 2TB gets filled!)
