I tried some similar sliders and found the bearing a bit sloppy, and the exposed track surface can get rough easily, and it was expensive - so I sent it back and built my own.
80/20 sells extruded aluminum and parts for linear motion systems. I purchased some 1.5x3 track, a slide with nylon bearing that ride in the side slots (where they are protected from dirt and dents), and a tripod ball adapter and head adapter. All told I think it cost about 200 dollars with the manfrotto parts.
It just required a couple holes to be drilled and one to be tapped for a 3/8 stud ( for the manfrotto ball).
Works better than the 700 dollar job I returned.

Look at LCP Video Camera Slider for Professional Film & Video Production (http://www.vcampro.com)

it's a new slider, I've had one of their test models
for about a month and it has been super.

Think their web site says they will be ready early in 2009

Bob, I have the Indislider and I am really satisfied with it. See: IndiSYSTEM - Studio 4 Productions (http://www.indifocus.com/)
