I want to be able to quickly move my XH A1 from my Glidecam 4000 and Cartoni Focus tripod. Problem is that the baseplates are different. Glidecam has a Manfrotto and the Cartoni is proprietary and they don't sell a standalone base.

What's my best option over doing what I do now, which is get out a screwdriver and remove one plate from the camera and affix the other? Not only is this a time sink, I don't like the wear and tear on the camera base screw socket, particularly the potential for over tightening if I'm in a hurry.

I have the same problem with my Libec LS-38M tripod, which uses a proprietary head and QR system. My solution was to buy a Manfrotto base, complete with its QR plate and bolt that to the Libec head. So, what you end up with, is the Libec head, with a Manfrotto base attached to it, a Manfrotto QR plate connected to that, and then the camera. Works like a charm, and now all my camera gear (still and video) will fill on every tripod.

That's my suggestion, buy a second set of compatible QR's, mount the plates on each incompatible QR, and one base on the cam...

That's kinda what I expected I'd have to do. Don't much care for a cobbled together kluge, but if that's the best there is, it's better than nothing.
