Hey guys

quick question...I am upgrading my JVC GY-HD100U to a GY-HD250 but I am concerned over using my BR-HD50...I know I can play back tapes shot at 720p...but will the deck play back video shot at 1080?

Hi Charles,

The BR-HD50 will only playback and record HDV720p material in HD, and will not playback or record HDV1080i signals. The unit will cross-convert the 720p signal to 1080i for output through either the HDMI or component connections.

Just in case you haven't been informed, ProHD camcorders do not record HDV1080i.

I hope this information is of help to you. For more, please go to our web site: JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY (http://www.jvc.com/pro).

Best of Luck,
Craig

Not wanting to disagree ;-) as they are quite right... but worth mentioning you CAN shoot 1080i to a hard-drive- as the 201 and 250 WILL output (uprezed) 1080i via firewire. But in that case, you won't be needing the deck!
