Can sombody tell me what the differences are between the Sony Premium DVM80PRR and the Sony Premium DVM80PRL ? I cannot find anything that explains the two different model numbers. Thanks for your help!

For the Sony Premium DVM80PRL I found this on the SONY B2B site - it is almost at the end of a very, very long list:

Sony | For Business | Search Result (http://b2b.sony.com/Solutions/search.do?search=minidv+tape)

For the Sony Premium DVM80PRR I COULD NOT find anything on an official SONY site, but I found lots of retailers giving explanations.

In essence it is the difference between the "L" and the "R" suffix.

However I did find this: "Mfgr. Product ID: DVM80PRL (formerly DVM80PR & DVM80PR2)" over on this site: Sony Mini DV Tapes 80 Minute Premium MiniDV Video Tapes (http://www.tapeandmedia.com/mini_dv_premium_80.asp)

Go figure!

Thanks for posting! Are you saying that there is no difference? I knew the only difference was the suffix but what is the reason for the different suffix? Is there something different about the two tapes?

Thanks!

I'm not saying either way. Did you read closely what I researched and found?

...formerly DVM80PR & DVM80PR2...

In some cases the suffix may relate to the retail packaging; e.g., single pack vs. 2-pack, etc. However, that will depend on what the maker decides to do.

Then it could be the L is for left-handed shooters and R for right-handed shooters <G>.
