Seems like an awefull lot of money to replace a Canon HV20 or 30.

Guess it depends on why capturing with the A1 has been "a pain"?

I use an HV20 and it works fine, it is nice to have a small cam at times. I have used Blackmagic to capture via HDMI with good results.

Thanks guys, I just had to send in one of my XH-A1's to Canon after hooking it to firewire it went dead, was thinking if this happened with a wedding the following week, I would be sick.

The HV30 is the answer, used to have a HV20 and sold it to my Mom, (for half price) knowing if I ever had to have a backup could get it.

I am also thinking the HV30 may be great for the steadicam.

She is too proud to just take it, and I figure if I ever need a back up it will be there to use. Guess you can say it was kind of a Birthday Present. :)
