Is the DVX100 suitable for an occasional run and gun shooting? I might want to go out and tape a few random interviews on the street for a documentary that I'm shooting. Which auto functions will suffice, or would I have to adjust everything manually (assuming I'm shooting in 60i)? From all the buzz about the Cine-modes, I've gotten the impression that this cam is solely for making movies, but surely its possible to get good spur of the moment shots with it, right?

Also, I plan on shooting a few plays at my school. If I'm shooting from approx 20 yards away at a 30 degree incline from the stage, should I be able to get decent zooms? Or would I have to go for a tele lens?

In 60i mode, it got a reasonably good autofocus, iris and white balance. Probably not the best run and gun camera made, but it certainly works by the reports.

I don't shoot 60i myself, but I also think if you have experience with manual shooting, you can run and gun in progressive mode as well. Just like shooting 16mm or Super 8mm...

Is it comparable to, say a PD150? Or are these two separate beasts with two separate implementations?

I would say it's pretty close to PD150 based on some other reports here. Search for PD150 in this forum...
