Newbie question. We're using the Sony XDCam EX with two 8GB cards. When card A fills up (or gets close) we switch to card B on the fly. The problem occurs when we go to import the files using the XDCam Transfer (version 2.5.1).

The Card A imports fine. Card B finds the file but the thumbnail says "No Image Available"

In the media window below you can move along the scrubber bar and see the time of the clip but I cant select the clip or create subclips. The Import button is greyed out also. I'm sure it probably a simple fix but we could sure use some help on this!

I can, however, insert both cards into the camera and view the videos with no problem. If we stop and restart between card switch there is no problem.

Thanks

When card A fills up (or gets close) we switch to card B on the fly.

Why?

Just let the camera do it.
I've never had a problem with this.

Okay. Figured it out. To the best of my knowledge you cant use XDCAM Transfer because it needs to see all parts (clips) of the continuous footage to render properly. (sorry about the newbie description)

I ended up using the XDCAM EX Clip Broswer. I cut and pasted the clips from the various drives into the same folder. The Clip Browser software stitched them all together for me.

If there is a way to do it usding the XDCAM Transfer software, I'm all ears.

There is, the clips should reconnect fine, the first part of the clip will be the last clip in the first folder. Dont bother importing this, as xdcam transfer actually joins the two clips in the same card folder as the where the clip ended.

I also suggest you update to xdcam 2.8.0 for less issues, also are you running an intel mac with 10.5.6? there are so many bugs out there using tiger and PPC..
