Hey MacHeads,
When I listen to my audio with my headphones in FCP, it sounds robust, properly adjusted and loud enough to hear clearly. When I put the DVD in and listen on my TV's speakers, it sounds like crap. How do mediate the two and ensure proper sounding audio/music in my finished projects? Thanks!

Learn the art of mixing and mastering your audio- you can do this in Final Cut Studio with FCP or Soundtrack and the manuals can even show you some of the important fundamentals. Well-mastered programs should sound pretty darn good on devices of varying quality.

Ben is correct: you can't use headphones to create a balanced and properly setup audio track.

Check out the "All things Audio" category here on the forum and get tons of "how to" info for getting the right DVD audio quality.

Not that this would minimize the previous messages, but you could plug your headphones into your TV and see how it compares to your FCP experience. If it's the same or close, chalk it up to those cardboard cones in the TV.
