Hi Peter-
If you are editing in Avid or Edius, then the CODEC is already built into the program. We use the XDCAM HD 422 CODEC (MPEG2 4:2:2). If you just want to view the clip, then you can use the Sony Clip Browser, which can be download from: https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/sony-software-model-PDZVX10.aspx

Hi,

You can also use our Calibrated{Q} XD Decode Codec - a QuickTime decode codec for XDCAM HD422/HD/EX/HDV .MOV files for applications that can import QuickTime files. You can download a demo here:

Calibrated{Q} XD Decode (http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp)

Hi,

thank you for your answer. I edit with Premiere CS3. If I want to input a file I get an error.

Hi Peter, the following is a quote from a different thread regarding Premiere support.

We are waiting for Adobe's support for the XDCAM HD 422 CODEC. We sent some files to the Premiere team for testing. I think the development is moving along, but I can't forecast any release date or even promise if this capability will be added to Premiere.

We do not expect to alter our MXF files for Premiere as they already play in Avid, Edius and Vegas.

Hope this helps,

Paul

Hi Paul,

but I can't convert the file with Procoder from Canopus (Grass Valley), the same company who produced Edius.

sad, but true. Procoder will not parse the XDCAM HD 422 codec. however, if you're looking for a conversion utility, it can be found with Mainconcept's Reference Codec, which will read XDCAM HD 422.

While Premiere does not natively support XD422, the Matrox AXIO extension does. So in theory those MXF files should play on an Axio system. I would like to test this. Are there any XDR generated MXF files posted online that I can use to test that functionality?

Hi Mike-
We will post some test MXF files on our website on Monday.

We will post some today. Sorry we were waiting on a tripod to get some better footage.

Here are a couple of mxf files: nothing fancy, they were shot out of our lab window.
We are working on better footage but here is something in the meantime:

(a big one, 940 Mbytes)

(a small one, 25 Mbytes)
